Fashion is so much more than choosing clothes and matching colours! It is about character and genuine understanding of why and how to wear an outfit! It is my thought and I often check movies related to the topic to see different points of view. I noticed I have many fellow bloggers who are into the same topic so I thought we could share our movie lists!
I pick up anything but mostly comedies and documentaries and want to share a list with my favourite movies & explanations about why they are worth watching. The cold season is close and these are so great to watch with a hot chocolate in your hands! If you have thoughts on them or want to recommend your favourite please leave a comment below! 🙂
- Crimes of Fashion (2004)
The action takes place at a university where students learn fashion and design:
‘Where all the biggest names in fashion learn to make the world a more colour-coordinated place to live in.’
‘We have only 1 philosophy at the Fashion University: you are what you wear. But don’t worry! After 4 years you’re gonna be fabulous!
2. Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009)
Just as the name of this movie says, Rebecca would do anything for that beautiful collection in the shop. Her best quote:‘If a man doesn’t fit, you can’t exchange him 7 days later for a gorgeous cashmere sweater! And a store always smells good. A store can awaken a lust for things you never even knew you needed. And when your fingers grasp those shiny new bags… Oh yes, oh yes! Oh no!!! I spent $900…’
3. Zoolander (2001)
Ben Stiller plays the role of a male fashion model named Derek Zoolander. Here is an extract from a conversation in the movie:
She: -When I was in the 7th grade, I became bulimic.
He: -!!! You could read minds?!
Okay, you don’t need to know everything about diets and eating disorders to be a male model…
4. Clueless (1995)
Cher and Dionne are two high school students who understand the power of a makeover and they try to change some destinies with the power of it. They live with fashion only on their minds:
-Hey do you know what time it is?
-A watch is not really fit for this outfit, daddy!
5. Dior and I (2015)
This is a beautiful documentary about fashion. It shows the struggles and work invested in creating the collections of clothes, but also the enjoyment to see projects come to life in form of marvellous Dior clothes!
6.Picture Me (2009)
Model Sara Ziff shares the thoughts and details about her model life. The 1 hour 20 minutes long documentary is about travels, catwalks and backstage.

Another documentary. This time, it is the editor and stylist Carine Roitfelt who has been creating the images in Vogue to tell more about fashion as a business and the thoughts behind the cameras.
8. Alexa Chung’s series from the British Vogue Channel on YouTube
I thought it was an awesome insight into the fashion industry. Alexa talks about how to have a fashion business, how to run a fashion blog, interviews designers and even gives great tips about how to get a job in the fashion industry. Here is one episode:
